CAD/CAM industry leader joins MTC community
CNC machining technology expert TTL has become the latest member of the pioneering Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry.
TTL has been at the forefront of manufacturing technology, multi-axis CAM applications and automated CNC machining systems for over 25 years and will now be supporting the MTC’s ground-breaking advanced manufacturing and engineering research.
TTL, based in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, supplies CAD/CAM, CNC machining technology and industry-leading CAM software solutions. Having a unique combination of engineering know-how, process knowledge and an innovative approach to software design, TTL’s flagship technology, Adaptive Machining, has served many sectors including aerospace, power generation, pharmaceutical, medical and motorsport.
MTC chief executive Dr Clive Hickman said he was delighted to welcome TTL to the MTC community.
“TTL has worked with companies who are already members of the MTC. The company has an excellent reputation, particularly in the automation of gas turbine component manufacturing, and the expertise it brings will be an asset to the MTC,” he said.

The MTC opened in 2011 and was founded by the University of Birmingham, Loughborough University, the University of Nottingham and TWI Ltd. The MTC’s industrial members include some of the UK’s major global manufacturers.
The MTC aims to provide a competitive environment to bridge the gap between university- based research and the development of innovative manufacturing solutions, in line with the Government’s manufacturing strategy. The MTC is part the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, supported by the Technology Strategy Board.
The growth of the Manufacturing Technology Centre has far exceeded expectations, achieving many of its targets five years ahead of schedule.

The MTC (Manufacturing Technology Centre) has been established to prove innovative manufacturing processes and technologies in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. The MTC provides a high quality environment for the development and demonstration of new technologies on an industrial scale, providing a unique opportunity for manufacturers to develop new and innovative processes and technologies in a low risk environment.
The areas of MTC’s technology focus are appropriate to both large and small companies and are applicable across industry sectors. The MTC’s members include global manufacturing companies from multiple sectors. Research partners include the University of Birmingham, University of Nottingham, Loughborough University and TWI Ltd.
