ORTHOPAEDIC IMPLANTS

Manufacture of Orthopaedic Implants

Adaptive Machining technology has an important part to play in the analysis and custom-manufacturing, of orthopaedic implants where the shape, size and form can be tailored to suit the individual patient.

A variety of media may be used to input design data – from lasers, ultrasonic probes, computer tomography, patient x-rays, etc.

Once knowledge of the required shape has been gained, the TTL’s Adaptive software facilitates the automatic adjustment of the CAD model, and subsequent generation of machining tool paths to manufacture the component.

An example of this application would be the custom-fitting of femoral implants where the implant stem and neck can be custom-manufactured to suit individual skeletal requirements.

Our Expert Systems provide extreme ease-of-use and high levels
of automation – making them very suitable for use in demanding
“last-minute”, or “just-in-time” applications.
